hi there , im new to this site so please forgive me for any mistakes! any way i have a 1990 rover racing green 998cc and i have removed the engine i also removed the gear linkage and the box that the gear stick goes into, when it was removed i found that what loooks like a sensor has been broken off inside the gear stick box, the wire is now hanging off as it was cable tied to the stedy bar on the linkage, can any one tell me what this wire or sensor does and if it is needed?! many thanks harry
