I’ve just spent 2 hours today removing and refitting the windscreen on my cooper so that I could replace the worn rubber. What a horrible job that was to do even with the correct tool. I can honestly say that is probably the worse job I have ever done on the car.
I’m really pleased now that it’s done but it was a struggle doing it on my own and I certainly did not imagine it to take that long.
I’v done it quite a few times now so can do it quite quickly. I used the little tool thing and some string. I took my rear window out took the seal off and put it back on again within an hour with help from my dad. I dont think its a job you can really do by yourself.
Well I used washing liquid on the edge of the screen and I had plastic levers but I really struggled. It could be just me but I’m sure the glass on an MPI is thicker than my older Mini (I could be making that up).
Disaster!!! After all the hassle of removing and refitting the windscreen with a new rubber I go and get hit by a stone on the way home from work on Friday night…one cracked windscreen needing replacement.
so you need string/lubricant. i know i need a special tool to fit trim into rubber but is there a guide to fitting windows, I.E were to start and through peoples trial and error the best method. what type of string/cord and is fairy liquid ok to use. would rather attempt job myself than pay someone to do it. that way next time will know what to do
