Will This Fit My Gearbox?...

**Hi.

I’m looking to get this shortshift kit to stick in my Mini.

Only, it says in the text there: “classic mini with a rod change gearbox”.

I have a '75 Clubman with a 1275 engine. Will I have a “rod change gearbox” that is compatible with this kit? And how can I identify the type of gearbox I have?

If photos of anything are needed, I can get them.

Thanks all. **

yours *should* be a rod-chage box..

to check, climb under the car… and find the box where the gear stick pokes up through the floor…
.. if its rod change, there will be two rods coming from the gearstick ‘box’ to the back of the gearbox… one of these will end in a U shape that is bolted onto the back of the gearbox, the other rod will have a cylindrical coupling that is connected into the shaft that comes out the back of the gearbox…

**Hmmm, I think there’s only one “rod” going between the two.

I’ll have to have a closer look tomorrow night, and I’ll get some pics too.

Also, I have to lift my lever up and over to get into reverse if that helps. **

yes it a rod change then…

**Ah ha! I put the front up on the ramps and climbed under for a look. The rods are on top of each other! That’s why I could only see one!

And I see the U-shaped connector and the cylindrical part too.

Yay for me.

Quickshift kit is heading my way me thinks.

Thanks for your help guys.**
