Whats The Best Way To Remove Diff Bearing For Crown Wheel Removal

as the title realy I need to remove this crown wheel from my buggered diff to fit to my replacement diff any pointers on how to get the bearing off without killing it ?

If you are going to use a new pair of bearings, you can simply pry off the outer making sure that you catch all the balls (otherwise you may be skating around later) this will allow you to get to the bolts for easier removal.

Or you could contact Guessworks who’s in Rugby or us who are in Kettering as we both have the tooling to remove said bearings complete…

Lol your both about asfar away as eachother lol
I am gonna take the broken diff to work tomorow and see if we have anything that can pull it off if not no doubt I will be giving you or John a Shout

right while I am at itI know I need minipres part no’s
22G1836 GASKET LOWER DIFF CASE HOUSING,ROD CHANGE
2A3505B - GASKET DIFF UPPER(GUG705709GM)

but what about the gaskets for the side covers as I cannot find them on minispares

I use a pair of car tyre levers, one either side on the inner race and eaqual pressure will get it moving.

Worthwhile if you end up changing the bearing, to get the full width bearings.

most diff bearings are of a non preload or very low preload type now, genuine SKF types are available and some others made in the UK, just watch out for the really cheap ones that have a wider inner section than outer section… as these just don’t fit

Cheers everyone
expect plenty of dumb questions from me in the next week or two

Don’t worry we can always give you dumb answers

sorry to drag up an old post, but i’ve got the same problem.

Should be able to.. Only thing I would say is make sure the puller splines come out far enough to get the inner race. And not just the outer..(causing the bearing to split…)

Yep, use the half moon shaped part clamped around the back of the bearing.  I use a hydraulic version to get the first motion bearing off without damage.
