Regretibly im writing for some help as a very very good friend/workmate and his longtime girfriend have lost their first child at birth i feel absolutley useless and helpless, i know that time is a healer but ive never ever ever been in any situation like this before and nor do i wish it upon anyone else, im worried as i havent heard anything for 5 days now, i know they will be greaving, But What can i do to help ? , i dont know if to call them at a time like this and if i do what do i say ? Please help as i dont want to be an unwanted presence as you can understand
probably best to give them some space, but send them a simple note to say you are thinking of them, and feel their pain.
let them know you are there if they need you, when they are ready.
nothing fussy or too sentimental, just a nice simple caring note.
dont text it, thats rather in-personal.
good luck - hope you help them get through what must be a terrible time.
ive been through this last year.its was the lowest point in my life. i dont want to go into it but all i can say is give them some space. 1 text is always good, not loads, just saying if you need anything just ask.if they want to talk there ring.
but give them space, they will contact you.
i say text, dont go round, if they want to talk there phone you.
Thankyou both for the replys ill post a written note through their letterbox tommorrow explaining , it looks like space is the best thing to offer at this time, thankyou again !
Ok ill text a short note then if that would be more comforting ?!
I personally would slip a card through the door. You can buy the ones with no ‘theme’. Then just write what you have to say. As said, a text is a little in-personal.
personally I would say a little note, Just saying that that you are there if they need anything. Texts and e-mails are all to easy to write and don’t really have the same message behind them, As they say the pen is mightier that the keyboard! (erm well maybe they don’t say that) but a hand written note is much more personal and sincere. I know which I would rather receive.

What Roofless said.X2 Thats a tragic thing. I’m not a father but an Uncle to Rosie and Toms baby and couldnt imagine what my life would be like without her in it. I definately cant imagine being a parent and having to suffer the loss of your child. I hope they can get through this tragic time.
last year my sister lost her daughter 7 months into pregnancy. it was an awful time for all of us. the miniiforum showed a lot of support and kind words, which i printed out and gave to my sister and her other half. as said, text messages are rather impersonal. write it and send some flowers as a token.
