What Centre Caps Did Mini 35 Ltd Editions Have ?

As the title sugests what were the original centre caps like in a mini 35’s wheel,I have a white mini 35 project ,that I want to look bog standard externaly…with all the 16valve noncense well hidden…can someone post a few pics…

thanks Mick

The 35’s didn’t come standard with alloys, but hubcaps? Other wise the alloy was just a minilite like the rsp coopers. I have one for a spare in my 35. Will take a picture for you tomorrow.

Oh the alloys were not standard , I didnt know that !! ,were they just a rover/dealer fit option, and would they just have been silver with a plain black centre or was it a specific centre to the 35,when alloys were fitted ?

Ive had the car for five years or so and it was not standard when I got it…were there any specific differences between the colours produced (mines white)

Mine’s Nevada Red, and is not standard. The original interior was pink and grey. lol. Here’s a link to a 35 brochure

got to admit you need a strong stomach for the interior…but I have returned it back to standard,it had small low back buckets…and I would need one for each arse cheek..so I sold the custom interior and went for original, the wheels not being standard were a surprise…dont know weather to find a standard set of trims now

The optional alloys we’re rsp wheels, I think they’re okay. I have anthracite superlights on mine.

HI northernmonkey

Great to hear another White 35.

Original wheels were the standard 12"steel, and standard sprite wheel trims 145/70 tyres.

I’ve got white Superlights on mine, and the original interior (what were they thinking !)

I have a set of the original (winter) alloys, Centre caps for the optional alloys were black.

Yes mine came with std sprite steel wheels. Glad to hear people are keeping some std mine is being stripped for a track car. So i have liads of std parts in my garage.

Do you have an interior?

yep I fleabayed the custom consol and cobra buckets ,the dash, and all other non standard parts…then picked up a full interior for less money (dont happen that way to often)…but what carpet would the white one have…black ? (im ok if it is) did they differ in any way between colours..this may help in sourcing parts in the future..I am keeping the original engine to one side and dropping a 1380 16 valve (bmw k1200rs) conversion into it

P.S. were they R.S.P. alloys, or mainstream cooper / injection cooper alloys…they were later cars than the R.S.P. Cooper cars and wouldnt they just have standard rover minilights ? (ie with the four holes between spokes not at the base)

Thanks Mick

‘Madge’ White 35 has a ‘black’ carpet in it .

and ‘Sprite spec’ radio etc.

The other alloys that the Rover Garage originally fitted were the RSP typ ethough with the holes at the base of the spokes.

Spare is still the steel one though.

“sprite spec radio” sounds wonderful…does anyone have a spare ? mines fitted with a halfords bargain bin reject…so the proper one would be good to have…
a have a full set of r.s.p. alloys as well as the rover mainstream / injection minilights so I will get them reconditioned and the yoko’s fitted.

It worked when i removed it from the car over 2 years ago. Its in decent condition.

How much do you want for it ? and how would you like paying ? I am working away from home ,but can travel home up the M1 and meet you somewhere just off one of the junctions or at a services ?..but it would have to be on a friday afternoon and I cannot hang about…

Where abouts are you from? I work in elland so a can come back along the m62 and m1 if i need to. Or i could meet hou at a show. Im not too show how much its worth. Make me an offer?

I live in colne Lancashire…so traveling up the m1…(from notts /derby)then the lovely M62…taking a swerve at the 602 or brighouse…and over the tops skirting round Howarth…with a blatt over the lanes down into colne( (it takes 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs and the slowest part is the motorway !!!)…It may be easier to either post a cheque…etc…or as you say meet up…
