Water Pump...

hey all, i have a leak coming from my water pump so i’m going to order a new one…

do i need one with a bypass or without?

1989 mini city e, my current one has a black pipe going up into the block if that helps?

thanks toby

bypass

As above. The black pipe is the by pass hose which you should replace at the same time.

Bypass, like this one…

And replace the hose with a section of ½” heater hose, DO NOT USE the bellows type, well not unless you enjoy having to replace it twice. Using either the new or old pump, measure how much hose you need, cut the hose to length and side onto the head first followed with the new clips and then followed by the new pump.

Or just buy the correct sized Bypass hose. 1/2" heater hose will lead you needing to find new clips, a proper solid bypass is the way to go, even now available in silicone!
