Turbocharger Help ?

With supercharger kits i saw that teh carb is before the supercharger itself..

But with turbos i dont kno.. is it

Air intake - > Turbo - > carb - > engine

or

Air intake - > carb - > Turbo - > engine

thanks

The 2 options are referred to as suck through (carb before blower) & blow through (carb last).

You can do either with a Turbo:

Suck through is easier in that the carb is always working at constant (atmospheric) pressure - the carb just thinks it’s bolted to a bigger engine that sucks more air. The downside is you have an induction system full of explosive petrol vapour. At least it will be vapour if the centrifuging of the turbine wheel hasn’t slung it on to the walls of the inlet housing.

Blow through is more complex because you need to make the carb aware of the boost pressure so it can stick in proportionally more juice - hence fuel pressure regulators and a crafty restrictor in the carb plenum creating a higher pressure in the float chamber. Since the air has already been squeezed before it gets to the carb squirting petrol in to it helps to cool it down as a handy bonus. It’s also much easier to plumb in an intercooler, as it’ll only be dealing with hot air, since we’re talking reducing charge temperatures and avoiding detonation.
