Transport To Welders...

Hi,
I am planning on sending my shell to get some welding done, mostly floors I hope.

I don’t know whether to remove both subframes and mount the bare shell to a pallet; or leave the shell rolling and let the body shop worry about it?
Thoughts please…

I think I would have more control and could refurb assemblies if I just sent the bare shell on a pallet, but how does the pallet not damage the new paintwork when the shell is returned?

Any advice appreciated,
Cheers, Rich

I would put it on a pallet, if the underside is being stone chipped, painted etc then it will make it easier for them. Get some carpet or something similar (mines on a mattress) to put on the pallet. I would Stick some wheels on the pallet as well make moving it about a lot easier.

Check with them.

Mine is on a pallet and it is a doddle to move, but that’s because I have a forklift and pallet truck. Without these there is no doubt that all I would end up doing is damaging the shell.

Phone them up and ask their preferred method. I know for a fact if I took my shell to one of my local body shops on a pallet, it would be in the exact same place when I collected it.

I Used a pallet with castor wheels, Bit of a job pushing it on to the trailer but made it a lot easier to work on also I didn’t get charged for the labour of removing sub frames

Check with them.
