well my dad was driving, but my mini went 95 when she was a standard 998cc but she was screaming and prob would have gone BANG if pushed her much more! now with a few little modifications (stage 1 head and a other goodies!) she goes 100 without pushing her so i hope she is capable of 110
I have got a GPS, ready to clock WHATEVER I can get out of my 998. On a track, of course. If anyone wants to borrow it at any of the meets I get to, just ask
> lol my top speed is an impressive 73mph *cough*… well it is standard.
What sort of bhp is your mini running with the new head? How much it cost?
i havent got a clue what BHP it is now, but there is an impressive difference! i got it for cheap as it was my m8s he cleaned it, ported and polished it and fitted it, well i did it but he showed me what 2 do so that i learnt how it all works
all for £100 cant get better than that
my advise would be not 2 bother with stage one KITS but 2 get a stage 1 head and 2" bore exhaust system etc.
Still pullign hard at an indicated 135mph (10% over-read due to wheel size, so actualy around 120) lifted off as it was too skary. :saywhat:
1600 k-series mini
Std 998 and 1098 both topped out around 90 ish.
998 with a 12G940 head Stage 1 kit, tweaked dizzy(mech advance increased) + reprofiled needle to suit, could reach the fuel gauge on a 90mph speedo in top screaming its little head off
1380, low compression forged pistons (was intending to turbo..) MG head, 266 cam, metro economy drop gears, 3.1FD could pull to a comfortable 110mph but ran out of puff here due to the looong gearing lovely for motorway cruising though.
Err look at my avatar that speed and a picture, on a track of course…
My mate has clocked me at 105 downhill, standard 998.
But 1275 attempting to go in 2moro YAY!!!
When I had my Stage 4 1000 running, my friend followed me back (in his Deawoo Nexia lol) from Milton Keynes on the M1 and coming in to Northampton he clocked me at 122mph. It was on the redline so I new I was chipping along.
When I checked that graph on the Rugby mini owners club section recently, it worked out that I was actually doing 121.lol Not suprising the gudgen pin fell out one of the rods really was it.
