Hi all,
as a complete ning to minis, I find myself in need of some thread cutters to refit a door (someone in the past has done some welding to the shell and damaged the captive nut).
Can anyone out there tell me what the most usual thread sizes are on minis?
Also any help with where I can source a set would be fab.
(sorry if this is a bit of a boring post…done by a total etechnophobe!!)
Depends on the age of the car, but the majority of fastenings are UNF, and then mainly 1/4", 5/16" and 3/8".
There are some UNC where fasteners going into cast alloy parts on the engine and some of the later (mainly SPi and MPi cars) had a few Metric fasteners used.

Thanks GraemeC, I’ll try the UNF threads first.
As far as age goes, the shell is an '88 city E, but the rest is sourced from ebay and of unknown age. I don’t think any of it is late enough to be SPi or MPi, but I can’t tell.
