all you need is the ability to ride a bike and road sense… it’s not as much a test.
Have you ridden bikes before?
I’m thinking about taking my bike test by the end of the year, as the rules are changing. Got to read up completely on those though, as peopl have told me different things.
easy peasy, on a rev and rip
Tad harder to learn gears but still easy, spend half a day riding round cones then off on the road. Do it you wont regret it
i have had a little go at riding a bike on an industrial estate where i used to work, felt a little awkward but not too bad, i kinda thought an hour of riding it about would see me comfortable with the gears and clutch control etc.
most of my friends are at least 20 years older than me and all insist it will revolutionise my life.
one of my friends said to me that “driving a fast car is like watching it on t.v after riding a bike where its real”
It’s not a test as such, there’s no pass or fail…it’s to see how safe you are on a bike. Sure, it helps to have ridden a bike before, (I’ve got 16 years biking experience) the instructor will pull you over and explain if you’ve done anything dangerous and help you sort it out.
I did mine last year great fun so I did my full licence
It’s not cheap at all and once you have your licence you need a bike/scooter then a helmet then some protective gear once you have all this
The only thing to spoil it is the British weather unless you like sitting in freezing cold wet leathers while sitting in traffic because the council dont know their arsehole from their elbow and decide to did up the high street again for the 20 time this month.
Don’t get me wrong well worth the money just be 100 percent sure of the risk and enjoy
I just wish that I could afford a bike a mini and a family something has to give
Get your test passed asap, it will only be made harder by future goverments who claim motorcycles are dangerous. Passed my test in 1980 ( getting old ! ) 4 times round the block with the tester on foot ! Never been without a bike since.
you are all saying the words i want to hear, this is very encouraging.
the comment about the weather is obviously a concern, but having said that i dont use my mini in the rain, so to not use the bike either is going to be no real hardship. obviously if you get caught out in the rain thats a different matter.
found some insurance today for £150, my first quote, and it affordable, i dunno if i can get it any cheaper or not but i can live with that.
