The battery has been charged up overnight. Today I will try and start the blighter!

i said yes becuase i have faith. and mine started after being sat for a weeek covered in snow!! And i left the battery connected!!
Back in the day when the grass was greener and it was still the mid 90’s, mine started on the first attempt after sitting in the garage for 6 months, but the battery did need a charge first lol!

I think I need to take a look at the starter motor
*bear in mind changed the clutch so a lot of components have come out and gone back in again.

What do you get? Nothing at all?
You get sort of an ‘UMPHY CLICK’ from the starter motor but it doesnt turn the engine
Remove + clean both the earth strap + the main feed to the starter. Failing that try turning the engine over by hand (push it in 4th) If there’s a normal amont of resistance go find a bigger battery + jump lead it.
If an old battery has been left to go flat there’s every chance its dead.
push the clutch down and try it. and check the starter solinoid. although its probly not that as the starter clicks. could be the battire. i know youve charged it but cheack the voltage coming off it with a multi meter.

sucks when you bonnet sticks. give it a shove with you arse. that what i do and it works for me!
How many leads go to the starter motor?
Should the earth strap be connected on one of the starter motor bolts?
At present I have three leads on the starter solenoid and one spade connector connected. Is one of the three leads on the solenoid an earth cable?
I couldn’t remember where they all go as It was taken apart ages ago!
Earth strap runs across the engine tie-bar on later cars (73> IIRC)
No other earth straps on the car as standard.
