The Inevitable Has Happened!

(Similar to minisilverbullets’ topic but a couple more specific questions)

The inevitable has happened. My mini has began to rust luckily its not too noticable and it doesnt seem to be structural, anyway just a couple of questions regarding it.

  1. Is kurust the best thing for eating rust? I’ve been using it on my morris minor that me and my dad are restoring but as that isnt on the road i havent actually seen how the kurust acts when it is actually exposed to the beautiful English weather so what do you recommend: kurus the area before painting or something else?
  2. The primer before the paint? Will any primer do or is there a particularly good primer to use, or should i go for the primer thats made by the same manufacturer as the paint? which leads me on to,
  3. Where on earth can I get Henley blue paint from? I wopuld prefer it as cellulose in a can but i do have the equipment for liquid cellulose or emel etc. i suppose a secondary question here is what would you suggest as im not respraying the whole car just doing a couple of touch ups?

Id appreciate any help

Ill try and get some pictures when mum gets back from tescos with the mini

nothing eats rust better than an angel grinder any treated rust will come back

seconded on that, grind/sand away the rust untill you have a shinyish metal finish with no rust and then patch it with some sheet steel, grind the welds flat, a very very very light scim of filler, sand it nice, then use the apropriate paints and go from there.

obviously full panels are better but sometimes a bit on the expensive side.
