HI all
Im trying to prep my sons mini for a respray as the paintwork has crazed all over, but when rubbing down the topcoat ,its coming off in little, tacky pellets, not as a dust which I expected. These pellets are clogging up the discs on the DA sander as soon as they touch the paint and also getting the same result if I try to hand sand. Can anyone offer any advise as I would like to be able to have the car on the road for him by the 1st week of Sept and at this rate I’ll be lucky to have rubbed down the boot by then!!
i had that, i felt like sanding paint that hadnt dried fully an du basically end up polishing with the sander!!
i used wet and dry paper wet and it stopped most of the clogging so i tried the water on the sander with no wet and dry and it worked, it did reduce the life of the sand paper but its better than the paper clogging the whole time.
I remember reading somewhere if you add soap to your wet wet and dry (that’s wet and dry that is wet) if helps stop it clogging. I’ve not tried it meself as i’m still welding new metal in… *Just some new sills and i’m there*
thanks for the tips.i’ll give it a go and if that doesnt work, then off to get some Nitromors I guess.
I suggest trying it on a bit that’s hidden and you can’t see very well just in case.
Have you tried searching here to see if anybody has asked or had this trouble before?
