I have made sure the timing is spot on
Points are perfect
Cleaned the mechanism on the side of the carb so its spotless with no gunk
Sprayed carb cleaner in the carb itself
Adjusted the idle screw as far as it will go
And its still idling at about 1200rpm :\
Do I need to take the carb of completely and give it a good old clean inside? is there a guide for this?
And what about mixtures, is it this that needs adjusting?
I suspect either the throttle cable or choke cable is not adjusted correctly and is stopping the butterfly from closing properly.
Also check the fast idle screw.
And see if you can pull the throttle linkage to close the butterfly as it could just be a sticking cable.
One thing I should mention, when I am stationary, if i quickly blip the throttle, it will fall back to about 1000 as opposed to 1200. Does this help narrow down the problem?
Now i dont know if you have a servo, if you have one check also the big banjo bolt on the intake manifold for the servo vacuum take off, it could be loose causing the leak.
