I am anew to this so sorry if this has already been asked but i was unable to find .
i have a 95 1275 spi sprite that has started to cut out
its been into a local garage and they have "run checks ", i have also change and checked the plugs and leads ,
they are saying that it may be the stepper motor but the only way to know for sure is to change it
looking through the post it sounds right , but i have also seen some posts about cleaning or checking it
my problem is i am not sure where it is , can some one let me know or am i best getting the garage to just change it , ythey have quoted me just over £200 to do it, so i am a bit keen to try some thing else first
You need to get the car to a garage with a suitable code reader for an spi, they will be able to tell you in a couple of minutes whether its the stepper motor or not!
when does the car “cut out” under braking maybe?
Pop the symptoms up here and i am sure someone will be able to help you out before you through 200 pounds at a new stepper motor.
Scrapyard job, odds on it’s the same as other Rover SPI’s. It probably isn’t a real stepper motor - just a normal one with a potentiometer for position feed back.
hi thanks for the replys , the problem i have is i dont know where to find the stepper motor on the car
i have tried the manual and the net but no where shows where it is
can any one point me in the right direction
