Replacing Primary Seal

Having had the beast off the road for 6 weeks I need to crack on and replace the primary seal soon. Will be replacing the clutch plate as well as was slipping like a beeatch.

Question- do I need the special tool to do the job? Last time all was done out of the car with engine in bits!

Thanks.

Only really a flywheel puller, can even get those in halfrauds

Have fun!

Edit: You can get a tool to wind in the seal nice and flat but they don’t come cheap. Some people use hammers, I used a glass jar… I’ve seen them on ebay for around £30

Double Edit: link

Ta- might have to replace my fly puller after knackering it on the engine change trying to get a clutch off… A glass jar I can also stretch to! Was more worried about getting it out, to be honest!

shame you are a bit far away as i have a tool for taking it out and putting it back.Nice and easy aswell

grinding paste, to lap the flywheel on correctly… this helps to stop fretting (micro welding) which ruins crankshafts and flywheels
