Removing Verto Clutch Cover

Undone 6 of the bolts and 1 more is out but resting there 'cus there aint enough room to get the thing out!

Removing it to sort out the lever arm and thrust bearing etc to get the clutch moving freely

But, there is ONE bolt left, ONE bloody bolt left at the bottom and cant get it out…

Undone top and bottom engine steady’s and moved the battery cable/line out the way and just cant get that 11mm spanner in there… The driveshaft is also in the way

Any advice or tip top tips??

Cheers

With a little bump n grind

Don’t think I’ve ever helped anyone on here…

Oi oi I think I will let the missus do that

Lmao cheers anyway mate

Have you jacked that side of the engine up as far as it will go ? I removed mine but it takes time and patience. The real fun starts when you have to re fit it.

Don’t bother, it will be fine without it and you save a shed load of grief.

Car is jacked up but not on that side only. Worth a go tomorrow if I can!

Any other tips as there is literally no room with the drive shaft and subframe there

Drill a hole in the inner wing and get a proper tool on it?

Got brace bars!

Might drill the subframe and see what can be done

Can you not hoik the engine out? May in the end be easier than crashing and bashing your way in to it

Don’t drill the subframe. It is not necessary. You need to jack up that end of the engine carefully, and maybe rock it a bit. You also may need a ring spanner with a large amount of offset. Some bolts you do with a socket, some with a flattish ring or combination spanner, and some with an offset ring. I find much the same problem with manifold nuts, no one tool fits them all, with a standard cast manifold at least.

I have large hands, but have never found it impossible to get that bolt out, having had clutches out with the engine in situ maybe 10 times.

You may find that the bolt will be very tight, because you have released all the others. If so, put the two adjacent bolts back in, and tighten them, then the awkward one will undo.

Don’t have a hoist etc
