I have an mpi steering column and nned to change the ignition switch as its knackered, anyone have any ideas how to remove it as it has security bolts on it which are just domed heads but no grooves for a screwdriver
Cheers, Paddy

if the mpis are anything like my '90 racing green, then the ignition barrel is fixed on with shear bolts. These cant be reused, i drilled mine out when i removed my ignition switch.

Hi..have you got or see if you can a drammel drill and use this with a small cutting disc and make slots in top of sheared bolt and then use a flat blade screwdriver and then undo…worked for me…
id used a small cuttin disc and cut the bolts off thats easiest way when i was at the scrappy id just saww the dash to bits worked for me
Thanks for the replys, i’ll try and put a slot in first, if no luck i’ll just drill them out.
