Raising Front Suspension

hi

so the mini (1994) has been at the local garage for a new front end and respray.

having fitted the new sports pack arches to accomodate the 13x7 wheels there is literally a gnats knackers clearance between wheel and arch when turning.

what would be the most cost effective way to raise the front suspension to gain more clearance? i believe the suspension has never been changed / upgraded since leaving the factory.

i ask cost effective as i have spent every penny i have on this respray.

i know many of you will say change the wheels nut i like the look of the 13x7s.

thanks in advance

I’m guessing you had the wings/front panel trimmed? How squashed are your rubber cones? if they are pretty squashed then a new set of them will raise the height, have you got Hi-lo’s? you can adjust the ride height with them.

You can fit some washers between the trumpet and knuckle joints, but only to a maximum of 1/4" (6.3 mm), this would raise the front suspension about 1-1/8". If your rubber cones are indeed the originals, I would only suggest this as an interim short term measure until funds can be saved for new rubber cones.

yeah all been trimmed back as far as possible.

i was leaning towards it being the cones as they are factory fitted ones.

will look into hi los

thanks

thanks for the tip!

Your car should already have knuckle joints with built in spacer see these

So could be worn knuckle joint and/or worn cones
