Ploom Of Blue Smoke

Was driving today and a small ploom of blue smoke came out the exhaust. It’s not done this before, what could this be?
It’s a 998cc 89 flame with stock engine components but a sportex exhaust. Unknown when oil was changed but looks clear.

Help! Joel.

blue means its burning oil, so check your oil and water level first then the colour of your spark plugs

it could be valve stem seals how many miles has the engine done

was it when accelerating or backing off the throttle. If when backing off, which i suspect was the case, then its very likely to be valve stem seals. and /or worn valve guides.

I was going at 40 ish then it slightly backfired at 3000 rpm then when u accelerated to 50 ish it happened

Unknown engine milage

what does it mean if its acclerating then?

Could be either piston seals or tto rich mixture causing bore wash.

Had a thought. I recently put some redex oil leak thing in (that worked) could this have pushed the oil level up? Id check but I’m not in ay the min. Last time I checked oil level was good

Cheers for replies by the way

It runs rich
