Well, Huey & I were looking forward to an evening with other minis on Poole quay, and we were sitting in a traffic queue on the A35 near Lyme Regis
when BANG! a kid in an Escort van whacked into us from behind.

So I’m looking to do a damage limitation exercise for now by taking the fog lamp off altogether until I get a new one
and replacing all the plastic on the rear lamp cluster. Both the lights in the cluster still work.
Thing is, has anyone got a set? It’s this one and seems scarce.
As for the bodywork, it still drives so I’ll get a proper assessment later.
The kid was pretty shaken up especially when I ran up to his car and kicked it.
However I know where he lives > ;) and he has offered to pay. With what? I wonder. Maybe he has a rich dad. Not.
If I can cobble together a yellow indicator cover I’ll be at Help for Heroes in Newton Abbot on Sunday as planned. Rear-end morons permitting. Er, just like I did once, eh Alan … :o

Cheers everybody & thanks Sam, hang on a bit, I think the foglamp just needs a lens. It never worked very well anyway Huey never had one until he moved to a different MoT garage 2 years ago and got pulled up so I’ve got a year to replace it.

Ah man thats sucks!

Forget him offering to pay for it go straight through the insurance. People always offer to pay for damages thinking it will be like £200 or something.

When you hand him a bill to have the work done professionally at a classic car body shop and suddenly the bill is over £500 he will soon change his mind anyway!

Have you thought of painting him a brighter colour,or maybe hanging some bells on him .

You said you just needed the lens, well if you want i can send you the whole thing with bracket just incase your one you have gets faulty or occurs to have more damage than meets the eye?

Accidents happen, thats why we have insurance. I hope you got full details off the guy that hit you. I would not bother with waiting for him to pay…go straight to his insurance company.
