Taking the mini to AB Garage in Chester friday for a rolling road tune up to try and sort out my flat spot. The car is a 998cc mini checkmate but running stage 1 by means of exhaust, inlet manifold, exhaust manifold, K&N filter and new needle.
This place comes highly recommended by many mini owners so will see how it goes.

Well all I can say is WOW! What a job these boys have done - its like a different car!
The car was running Stage 1 but always had a flat spot.
First of all they reset the points and the mixture at idle and that improved things straight off. Then a few power runs on the rolling road found the car was running too lean so the needle was removed and replaced. The original needle came from mini spares and was a AAU - the guys were quite surprised as they would normally expect an AAA needle - anyway that swapped the car was pulling nicely.
A few more runs to get the timing just right and all was done.
The final run shows the car running 44bhp at the wheels - which I think is damn good!
The car as I say is transformed and pulls nicely through all the gears.
I was there a few hours and the lads encouraged me to watch and ask questions - I tended to leave them too it tho but they kept me informed all the time what was going on.
Total cost including the new needle - £60 Bargain!
Certainly wont hesitate going back - just make sure you book well in advance as they are quite busy.

SHHHH its a secret how good they are and the pricing cant be beat…
