Noise From 13 / 7 Superlights With Yokos?

Please give your topic a title that quickly describes your problem. Just putting 'Help my Mini doesn't work' is useless to anyone trying to help.

Model: cooper classic
Year: 2000
Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible):

Noise from front - sounds like wheel related as linked to rolling speed and not engine speed.

constant drone type sound which gets noisier with speeds over 30 mph.

is it the wheels? newish tyres? bearings … or something else?

I have checked clearance - and no problems (i have sat in it while my partner has checked).

Bought it a week ago.

Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem? Yoko tyres, 13/7 superlights, sportspack arches.

Are all the wheels balanced correctly? This can cause noise,

Also, to check if the wheel bearing has gone, jack up the mini (so the wheel is completely off the floor) and holding the wheel at the top and bottom, wobble the wheel forwards (towards you). If it moves then there is play in the wheel which means that its a wheel bearing gone. Spin the wheel and try wobbling it again. Hope that makes sense?!

This explains it better!

cheers - I’ll do that tomorrow and check it out.

It doesnt feel like balance because it doesn’t get choppy with speed (once had that with a previous car).
