hi all, right then… i bought my mini a while ago without a v5 but told that i can just send off for it.since then i have done some major work to it and now am looking to geta v5 for it. i dont really want to go to the dvla in case that the reg is a copy or stolen or owt dodgy as ive heard of a few people having their cars crushed for using a dodgy v5.the cars plate is **e326 yne** but i would like to keep the reg on it as its my first mini. as a long shot, does anybody know this reg and ablee to provide info on it.
any advice would be welcomed
(also i believe it will have to go for an iva test so i might have no choice in it anyway)
Just had a check on the Direct Gov site and its coming up with no data for the reg: E326YNE…
You could how ever do a HPI check on the Chassis/VIN Number which would in turn bring up the Reg number (a previous owner of one of my bikes did it and retrieved the number)
Back in the 90’s I got in touch with the police (was suspicious about a motorcycle I had bought) and they told me that the bike was all ok and that was that.
Good Luck.
i ant got any vin numbers tho. thats another reason why im a bit concerned
You bought a car with no V5 or chassis numbers…
yep… i got it off ebay!!! £360 but the engine was nackered. the shell was in good nick tho. hold on, where are the vin plates located? i have been told it is a mk4 if that helps
Is there definately no number stamped in the gutter in the scuttle?
Has it been ground off?
> You bought a car with no V5 or chassis numbers…
/\ Whs!!!
ooops! well the scuttle was that badly rotten, it was basically foam and filler so i cut it off long time ago!
sorry about the question but it is on topic
where are the chassis number and the vin etc?

VIN-vehicle ID number
they’re numbers that match a car/engine/chassis together along with the paper work
think he meant where on the vehicle
yeah they are on a plate thing arnt they, when you open the bonnet?
ah, sorry, it’d be riveted in there somewhere!!
stamp in scuttle panel- removed bodged filled panel
under bonnet- bought it with a flipfront on!!!
i take it when you do a flipfront/ change the front metal panel your supposed to put the old one on the new panel?
> i take it when you do a flipfront/ change the front metal panel your supposed to put the old one on the new panel?
should be put on the new front, i think the only thing u can do pepper is do a hpi check using the reg(please tell me u have a reg plate on it!!)
nope. well, i got that on my bedroom wall so i dont lose it. any hpi check youd reccomend? because quite a few different companies do them nowadays.
Hang about.
Just went onto Google and searched for some “Vehicle Check” websites (they usually bring up basic details before you do a HPI check just to make sure you’ve got the right car) and punched in your reg again.
Heres what I found…
Vehicle Registration Mark E326YNE
Make AUSTIN
Model MINI 1000 CITY E
Transmission & fuel type MANUAL 4 GEARS PETROL
Body Type 2 DOOR SALOON
Colour SILVER
Bingo.
nope. ant got owt from inside it. only thing i have found is some of the components have a qc sticker on them saying that it was checked wk51 1989. i think i might be able to get in touch with the old owner but dont have a number for him-should still be on my ebay feedback. might be worth a go. saying that, ive made it rwd so il def hav to go thru an iva check. is it worth bothering with (the old reg)
edit-that descriptions right originally, it was roller-painted bright yellow when i got it tho, but it was silver underneath and a 998 engine

I’d personally keep the registration - is an IVA test similar to a SVA one?
