No Thermostat

Any detriment to running without one fitted??
Thanks in advance.

Well, I would guess that you will end up with a variable engine temperature, from too cold to about what you have with a stat in, depending on ambient temperature and driving speed / load etc. Can’t imagine it would have any benefits really, and on the downside the car will take longer to warm up and possibly not run as well if it runs cold. Could be more problematic in colder weather (eg winter). If it’s an injection, then it could cause other issues as I think the ECU has warm up cycles etc which may never ‘exit’ if it never reaches expected hot temperature. Any reason you want to do it?

Poor water flow and possible over heating of the number 4 pot.

Not to mention slow warm up.

But if you want to the fit the blanking sleeve to get the right water flow.

Interesting, I didn’t know that the stat was required for correct water flow. Is that because you need a little restriction at the stat housing otherwise the flow path to no.4 then becomes the most restrictive path and gets bypassed?

This info has been out there for years.

I don’t doubt that it has, however I am not much read up on modifications, was just asking about the reason out of curiosity and making conversation. Isn’t that what we are here to do?

I would say that is
