Hey all,
Just put new points in ( and sorted my tappets ) today. Recently changed my Plugs, Leads, Cap, Rotor Arm, Sparks, etc, but had points were out of stock at the time.
I put the new points in ( the old ones were bad and the gap was wrong ! ) and it also checked/altered the spark gap again.
HERES THE THING - It has made one hell of a difference. So much that I put it back together, started the engine, and she didn’t need the choke ( yet the engine was freezing ).
The idle isn’t to fast so… is it that the mixture is too rich so the " better spark " I am now getting is making the car perform better than it should ( no choke ), so should I alter the mixture, OR is it that the timing is now too fast/forward so I should move it back a touch ???
Hope this makes sense. Any help would be appreciated.
Or should I just go and get it tuned… again…
( recently fitted stage one with needle, and changed the waxstat jet to a static jet, so timing and mixture all got altered. The timing was also moved on a touch ( by the garage tuner ), but I am thinking now that the spark is right, should it be moved back ?? ).
Help.
