Need New Rocker Cover Gasket

Hi so I’ve got a question about a new rocker cover gasket. I know that the original is made out of cork, but was wondering if anyone knew if i could get a gasket cover that it is made out of rubber and can fit a rover mini 1000, 1991 model. I’m not sure how many studs are on the car itself if it is 9 or 11 but your help would be much appreciated, have got a Haynes manual as well btw.

you can get silicone gaskets now  http://www.minispares.com/product/Classic/Engine/Cylinder_heads/Gaskets/GUG705009EVO.aspx?100401&ReturnUrl=/shop/classic/Engine/Cylinder~heads/gaskets.aspx|Back%20to%20shop

I’ve used the newer type of gaskets but i always find myself going back to cork it just seems to seals better

Cheers guys,n,I have appreciated. Gonna order the second one suggested

To prevent the sealing issues Rocket mentioned, see the thread linked below and follow the steps I outline in post #9 (first page).  If you follow that method the silicone gaskets work very well.  This method also works very well with cork gaskets if you prefer to continue using them.

Thanks for sharing

I have found that simply not overtightening the cork gasket (ie not overtightening the rocker sleeve nuts) is the answer. I fitted t bars to make it easier. Just nip them up but don’t horse them down, and the cork gasket seals fine for a long long time.

That is indeed true if the valve cover is not distorted from previous owners over tightening the sleeve nuts.

The gasket installation method I posted a link to works both for valve covers that are pristine and those that have been distorted from previous owners over tightening and distorting the valve cover.
