Well story goes that I decided I wanted a retro looking Monte Carlo style windscreen. I spotted that mini sport did one. Though there aren’t any images on the web page, except " montecarlo style windscreen" ! Now in my mind that is a windscreen with visible heating elements running horizontal across the screen.
Though. The screen has arrived and what a disappointment, The heating elements while running horizontal are right at the edge of the screen, which will be hidden by the rubber seal!
Am I being being too particular here? Or was I right to expect what I got?
I had an early heated screen with the heating elements visible, but I swapped it for the later type as I found the strips a bit distracting when driving quickly at night. The early ones had two heated areas, left & right sides, but the later ones just heat up all the way across with one single switch.

The one I received , while not what i ordered is still pretty neat!
Hopefully you can see in the picture, between the horizontal strips, are lots of thin wavy elements running vertically.
The vertical ‘wavy’ lines are the gold heating threads.
Strictly the ones with the very visible bus-bars are not ‘Monte Carlo’ screens, just early type which worked well. The horizontal bus-bars were then thought to detract from good visibility and the later ones had the more hidden strips.
1 week later and I am still stuck with a 250 quid screen i didnt order. Minisport admit that it was wrongly advertised on their website and have now actually edited the description.
Numerous phone calls from me to them, and numerous broken promises of "we will get back to you this afternoon/tomorrow etc "
Even after explaining that i have spent over 1000 pounds with the company over the last 2 years, fell upon deaf ears.
They have been trying ti get a company to collect the screen from me and deliver it to them. They haven been able to do this.
Being pretty flexible about the whole thing, i offered to keep the screen if i got a discount. they offered 30 quid. Which seems ok. But let me put it into perspective.
30 pounds is what they charged me to post the screen and it is what they would have to pay to send a replacement.
They asked me if i minded checking the postage to return it. Using the same method UPS standard as they use. I was given a quote around 100 pounds. Add to this 4 or 5 international phone calls, from me and the shear inconvenience. 30 pounds was frankly an insult.
Though as it stands, there is still no solution. What a joke!
Disgraceful. I think you could get them with trading standards, false advertisement and they should give you a full refund or replacement, at no cost to yourself. Failing that threaten to take them to a small claims court. Minisport get away with this kind of thing way too often.
I know.
They are offering a full refund, but they cant seem to organize the collection of the screen.
The approx cost for them to have the screen returned to them and for them to send me a replacement will cost them circa 1**30 pounds**. Trying to offer a solution, I explained instead of spending that on the postage, maybe they could save some money and offer me a discount. I am not looking for a 130 pound discount. but it needs to be sweet enough for me to keep the unwanted screen. It would save everyone money.
I also explained that the screen was superbly packaged when i received it. And that I didnt think I could package it in the same way. And that wasn’t responsible for any damage. But they didnt care.
You shouldn’t be needing to sort anything for them. They should sort any postage themselves, you’re basically doing their job for them! Stand your ground, they will be completely aware that they are in the wrong.
I know it’s too late on this one, but lots of people had had problems with minisports. They aren’t known for their customer service or honouring what they say they will do. Minispares are much better in my experience and I always use them now unless they don’t have the part I need (very rare)
I only have a week or two of usage left of the mini before the roads here require winter tyres. So I didnt want to wait 10 or so days for a replacement to come.
Check that all the elements are working before fitting the screen. I didn’t and a few were broken.
Use a decent sealant between the screen and the rubber. I didn’t use any sealant when I fitted the screen 18 months ago and water has found it’s way past the rubber and has seeped between the glass layers. This water only shows as a slight misting of the plastic inner layer a few mm in from the lower edge and with a normal screen it’s not a big problem. However, the horizontal electrodes have corroded and I’ve lost around half the heater elements.
