Mini Vin Number

Hello!

I should know the answer to this, but I’ve been away from Minis for a while, so everything has fallen out of my head! :proud:

Can you determine a rough age of a Mini from the VIN number build number?

I know how to decode it up to that point, but is there anywhere that tells you what car number started what year roughly?

Just trying to do a bit of digging & want to make sure what I’m looking at is right!

Yep, got that much - but it says 1960-1969 … I’d quite like to get it a bit more specific!

The full prefix and first three digits of the chassis number and indication of total number of digits should be enough to get a fair indication of age e.g. A-A2SB - 128xxxx

Hi 62S,
I suppose you can, but only if you know how many are made per year between 1960 and 1969.

A very rough guess in that case means that I think everything checks out.

Thanks guys.
