hello
i fitted a 1275cc engine to my mini because i thought the 998cc old engine was knackered, it smoke really bad!
i found a metro engine with only 15850 miles on it,and it runs great, re-painted it and fitted it. it started first time and runs lovely!
but after about three mins it starts smoking, looks pale blue,
i wonder if it could be because i turned the engine vertical to drop it in the engine bay around the brake servo???
or if there is oil in the exaust pipe that needs burning off
any one had the same probs???

**Any non-standard parts that might be involved with the problem?**
When turning it vertical it may have been possible that you got oil in your breather which is then being sucked into the carb and being burnt. Just a possibility.
phoned my old man up, he said did you over fill the oil???
i said no no dont be silly…and then went straight out to check it as soon as i got off the phone…and guess what, i only have der brain…from the min to the max and then at least that amount again
so i tell you all, as my punishment, I AM STUPID!!
Did you check after the car has stood for a while?, if you checked the oil just after running the engine then the oil will have been splashed up the dipstick and the level will be ‘disturbed’, also make sure the car is on level ground.
