How big is your wallet!
if you are really serious, you should look at buying a secondhand one, you never get back what it costs to build a competition car…just an example, my mate bought a pretty well sorted hillclimb mini for nearly £3.5k, and when you add up the cost if you had to buy most of the parts (less the shell) again, theres nearly £12k worth of kit in the car!
miglias are a whole level way above that!..just the engine from a reputable builder cost in the region of £12k, then you need the gearbox, then another grand on a cage…so miglias have moved a long way from their roots, and are now seriously expensive cars just to run, let alone build!
if you are still interested in building one, i’d recommend Bill Sollis’s book " building, preparing and racing your mini"…it got a whole wealth of info in it, its also got a lot of useful info even for road cars.
i was looking on www.mini7.co.uk, and its got the old cogs turning, i think it would probably be a 7 first to get used to it then a miglia
If you’re seriously thinking of building a race mini, then I reckon starting off with a hillclimber may be the way to go. That is something I would love to do meself!
Start at Mighty Mini level as they are a fairly standard car and only aloud to do a few mods/alterations. Once you get good at that, then move up to the Super Mightys. Both of these are very competative but alot cheaper than Miglias and if you decide competition isn’t for you then you can sell up and won’t make too much of a loss.
Blue cost me £4k and that was a budget hillclimber!
oops double post.
If you want cheap competitive motorsport then why not try autograss or formula ministox (ministox for adults).
Autograss is non contact or if you want to get rough the ministox is full contact!
My mate is selling a sprint car for 4k he has spent well over 15k in the past 3 years…
Its does a 1/4 mile is just over 12seconds if your interesed give me a shout
check out my site and thats what i race its no contact on a tarmac oval ![]()
The alternative is Mighty Minis which is base on std production SPI coopers.
