lowering your car and exhausts

i want to lower my car, just an inch, maybe a little less, but will it not get damaged underneath? are there ways to get around this…i.e…sump guard etc. i have already had to replace the joint where the manifold meets the exhaust becase it wore out from big speed humps. does anyone have any problems with their lowered minis?

unfortunately with today’s demands on traffic calming measures, you just have to watch out for them…

I have two locally, which I have to stop and roll over just avoid the scrape, but that’s only the bottom of the Y and I have lowered 1 1/2" with 10" wheels…

Most of the time its a saggy exhaust which probably just needs a little ‘fiddling’ with to get it tighter up into the tunnel…

You can get sump guards etc. but then you’re componding your problem by reducing you ground clearance even further ( weel round the sump ) at least..

In my opinion, go slower overthem or get a landrover !

go at them at a diagonal and keep ya wheels straight on it wont f**k ya zaust then

Roberts beat me to it. The first British car I drove was a very low MGB. We always had to drive over speed bumps diagonally or we’d pull the exhaust off the car. When you lower your car as much as an inch you may also want to consider aftermarket shocks such as KYB and/or shocks for lowered Minis.

Put the gear linkage inside the car, then you can raise the exhaust into the tunnel out of harms way.
If you lower it, get lowerred shocks too or they will bottom out all the time and do damage.
You kinda get used to being low after a while and find different ways of getting places to avoid speed bumps and stuff and no go areas like carparks with the really harsh black and yellow rubber humps.

im the same i want to lower my mini but the exaused catches the floor now it does need bringing upbut i dont think it will come up that much

i only get problems with middle box catching so get a single box system and that will cure that one.

lol thats what mine is lol still catchs it deff needs briging up tho its like on floor all the time lol i neeeeeeeed some ramps lol so i can get under and sort it out
