Light at night

Got fed up of not being able to see dials at night due to poor lighting.

So

I decided to add a few red LED’S

From this

To this
What do ya think?

Any ideas for lighting up the switches
Don’t really like fiddling around in the dark

Any light on the subject would be helpful

cooooooooooool i like!

that looks gud mate

wow nice that looks cool

nice one

does mean that my face lights up a bit

but hay

They look good, im eventually going to do a similar thing, its very hard to see my speedo at night :S

As for the switches you can get led’s which can be directed to locations for a few quid each… cant remember where ive seen them though.

> led’s which can be directed to locations

Didn’t see any in Halfords but will keep looking

The led’s I have used were from Halfords
Got 4 in a pack for £4.99 and come in various colours

Not bad considering when I got a flashing on for an alarm installation cost £5 for one

Looks really good. how did you go about hooking them up, did you put them on the same curcuit as the lights.

Got it

Look around halfway down, they are more expensive than i remember.

Point Lights is what they are called.

All they need is a power and earth

Don’t use much power so just wired them into the sidelights
Behind the switch

The top wire is main beam (blue)
The middle is live all the time (brown)
And the bottom one is the sidelights (red)

But might be different on other minis

Have a look with a test light
See what happens when the switch in different positions

and u can get an earth from any were behind the dials
mines taken from a screw behind the heater switch pannel

thanks they look better than the others ive seen

would work with the chrome and red thing going on inside

got the micro led’s too but in Halfords u can get them in

red, blue, green, orange, purple, yellow and a few othes that i can’t think of at mo

When I read your first post I thought ‘chav’ immediately, but honestly they look pretty dam good!

you could just put a neon light in your car then you would be able to see teh switches

I am in to modded, custom and classic cars

Have a few mates that I’ve done work for
Brakes, lowering, ice installs etc

But I would rather have a mini

I’M NOT A CHAV !!!

They are stop/tail lights mate. No good for interior use!

Halfords do a set of directional LED lights. You get a pair of them, They come on a little stick on bracket thingey which you can aim the unit. Then they plug in through a Cigerette ligher port.

If you are wiring them in, YOU MUST install a Cigerette lighter and plug them into that Because the Plug on the LEDs has a resistor in it, so Cutting the plug off and wiring them direct to 12v will cause both LEDS to pop! :nugget:

As for the ones 1984mini25 has installed, they are very good, They come all wired up and ready to hook up to anything 12v.

£5 for a flashing alarm light!
They are about £1.25 in halfrauds, And then you just wire it to a live!
