Hi, After failing mot misserably on emissions (Co 13.27%, Hc 504ppm, lambda 0.632)
I used a diagnostics reader and i’m getting a constant reading from my lambda sensor of 2.1 volts.
Am i correct in thinking the lambda sensor needs replacing?
The voltage does drop when i pinch the fuel supply flex but I’m thinking 2.1 volts is way off the scale.
Hey
My MPI has just done the same, failed its emissions badly.
A few things came up on my diagnostics though one of which being the air temperature sensor was knackered and thought it was -213 degress C. This meant my lambda sensor was switching between 0.5volts and 4.5 volts putting in lots and lots of fuel.
The other thing ive found out is to check your earths. If there is any rust around the earth and theres a voltage of above 0.2volts then this could also affect how the lambda sensor is working they will just need taking back to bare metal then protecting with vaseline.
After replacing my air temp sensor and taking the car back in my lambda is now reading between 1.2 and 1.8 volts however this is still too high. Apparently they should not exceed one volt and i have been advised to replace mine. Its going on tomorrow so ill let you know what happens
Hope any of this helps
If you want i can pm you the article i got this information from.

That would be great help cheers.
ill try and find the website again for you asap.
Er mine had a new lambda on it but it didnt make any difference
the problem turned out to be a badly earth point. when that was cleaned and replace it passed so id have a look there
cheers
