Hi,

 

After lots of looking I finally took the plunge and bought a late 1963 Mk1.  Picking it up on a trailer on Thursday and excited to actually get hold of the car and making a start.

 

Step 1 is paint as it has had all the major panel work done - does anyone know how to find the original colour short of getting a heritage certificate? - it has been painted Speedwell Blue by the current owner but needs a repaint as there was a minor disaster with the roof!

 

I am looking to keep it as original as possible.

I don’t think Speedwell Blue would original on a late 1963 car. Have a look under the front parcel shelf or behind the dash panels to see if there is any evidence of the original colour.
