Insurance For A Cooper With Jcg 's' Conversion?

Trying to get a quote for a 1990 cooper with a JCG ‘S’ conversion and am getting confused .

Most places see the S conversion as an option when new and therefore don’t see it as a modification. While this is good news for the premium, I’m worried that I wont be covered in the event of a claim.

I’m telling them that the car has a dealer fit performance option - and am making sure they know it’s an ‘S’.

Am I right to be wary?

Any ‘S’ owners care to shed some light? I’m 24 so a classic policy is not an option this year.

Why would a classic policy not be an option - im 21 (next week ) footman james, adrian flux , lancaster all give classic car policies.

Not sure on the engine front - but if they see it as standard (bonus) get an agreed evaluation and im sure the I/C would see that its worth more because of it sorted.

Those are specialist policies - not necessarily classic ones. Proper classic policies start when you are 25. Thanks for your help though - I have tried most of them too.

Its the other way around, people dont want to look at you for a normal policy until your 25, classic policys have no age limit, phone footman james they are the best. And it is a genuine classic policy because you have to be in a car club and you have to do a agreed valuation. You also have to be on limited mileage until your 21. (upto 5000)
