I just renewed my insurance for the Audi A8.
Everytime I deal with an insurance company I am left wanting to babg my head against a wall and or throttling the person I am talking to.
I told Admiral last week, dont AUTO renew.
I said:
“I am shopping around, if I wish to renew I will contact you. But do not auto renew.” the reply was “ok Mr Woodliffe I look forward to talking to you next week.” I just called to atempt to gain more discount and I was told “I have gone ahead and already renewed your policy for you as I noticed from your records that your old policy expired on Thursday”
what the hell?!
So If I had gone with another company and not contacted them they would still have taken the money and more than likely I would have been charged by the bank because there was insuficiant funds! Then I bet the insurance would have added at least 25quid to send me a letter about an outstanding balance!
So, I hate insurance companies. They are the worst people I ever have the misfortune to HAVE to deal with. SCUM.
Especially hate insurance companies as I am a 17 year old who’s just passed his test. So, they automatically presume Ill be racing around with my cap on back to front and beating up old people in my spare time. I apprciate that they have to cover themselves, but the reason insurance prices are so high is because those people described cause the accidents and are not insured. So whoever is on the recieving end end up having to pay up. So now I am getting stupidly high quotes for my 850 mini, with a 0-60 time of 2.5 (that’s hours - not seconds).
On the plus side, whilst I’m now restoring the 850 I’ve been looking at what cat will be cheapest to insure. It’s a mini 1000. So, more power and it’s a mini
insurance companies are still thieves.
Did you know that you don’t have to pay car insurance…if you have 5 million in the bank
I dont believe in the auto renewal. I dont think its to cover their backs, i think its because they are a bunch of theiving … no word strong enough that wont get blocked by filter
Auto renewal is part of the admiral contract/agreement that you will have agreed to the year before.
However, having told them not to auto renew, i dont know why they would have, except them just not listening.
When i insured the mini, in order to tax it the same day i asked if admiral could send me through a fax copy of a temporary insurance certificate. They said no problem and asked for the fax machine number - the number is different from my home phone number. Then, for some reason they try to send the fax to my phone line number. I call and even appologise for the inconvenience im causing them, and politely ask them again to send it to my fax number, NOT the house phone number. Yet, again they try and send it to my home phone number. This process was repeated 6 times untill i eventually just gave up. Each time i phoned the guy on the other end just appologised for the mistake and said he would make sure and send it to the fax machine next time.

I know it is, and I even told them the year before not to auto renew when the year was up. I told them I will contact them if I wish to cont with them.

Bit useless to be honest.
Sounds about right. Dont listen, and dont have the intelligence.

How much are they asking,i can insure my 87 mayfair with a 1275 for £816 fully comp with £350 excess or £486 3rd party.I am 17 soon and got this quote today when i was at bingley hall.
I was actually really impressed with Adrian Flux’s service although I haven’t needed to renew yet so dont know if i’ve got the auto renewal thing to deal with. Having said that, car insurance really is a legalised scam

I know one year i switched insurance companies, but the new ones took the amount 3 times plus the excess in one go due to an ‘admin error’
Ok so I just about had enough to cover it and I got it all back, well the amount that shouldn’t of been taken, but that’s not the point.

If you get problems, try mentioning if it is not resolved by a certain date then you will be contacting the FSA. Anyone issuing credit (monthly payments) has to follow a code of conduct. Look in the Traders reviews section, I have a thread there about Lancasters doing the renewal thiing on me. I got all the money back (except a tenner, but I had lost the will to argue!). I have found HIC is the cheapest for me, at 24 with a standard 998 in a dodgy Leicester postcode. £216 tpf&t.
Watch out for the renewal prices they send you on auto renewals, as mine went from £198/year in year 1 to £604 in year 2 (without my even knowing I had a policy with them!).

Was that on your provisional?
All of my quotes are over £1400+
It was with footman james and the guy did the quote as if i had my full licence for only 1 day as i don’t even have my provisional yet, although it is in the post
Well, I gave those peter James chaps a ring and they knocked a grand off my previous quotes! Top guys that can see that we’re not all chavs wearing hats backwards.
I can’t get classic car insurance with a provisional so have to pay £1700 until i pass and even then some people wont come near me because im not 23+
However my mate has told me he is getting learners insurance for something like £90 a month and you only pay for three months at a time i think, good times
