its not a hinge panel beacause you have mk3 internal hinges. its an ‘a’ panel
or apex panel. a non genuine panel costs about £8 or so a genuine one about £20ish relatively easy to replace if you can weld. its spot welded to the wing and the rear is folded around with a couple of spot welds.

whats the rust like on the panel behind there

the bit where the door hinges are

thanks.
may I need to go garage. lol i don’t have any welding equipment

Depends.

Do you have any practical skills? Do you know someone who has a mig welder? You may be able to buy a second hand welder for less than the cost of the repair.

If you can learn to do these things yourself, the less it will cost in the long run. Depends how brave you are really.

Yes like he said you would be able to buy a Mig welder and the “a” panel and do it yourself for less than what a garage would charge to do it. And then you would have the Mig welder as well so if you come into anymore problems you would be able to try it yourself. But as people have said, you need to be willing to learn these things otherwise you won’t get anywhere.
