Just a quick one - how do you know or find out if your coil is broken?
you can test the resistancies, but sometimes coils only start playing up when hot…
symptoms include odd mis-fires..
Swapping new for old is the easiest, conclusive test. The fault usually lies elsewhere, coils have no moving parts and are therefore reliable.
there is a section in the haynes manual, you probe voltages and resistances of different parts of the coil (really easy to do). my coil was playing up a while back, the car would run rough, the rpms would drop all the time, the car ran horribly. i also found that when the car was first started, it was fine, but as the engine warmed up, the problems occured. a brand new coil and everything was good.
when was the last time you serviced your mini?
