Help Fitting A Earlier Engine

Also need help on fitting a earlier starter engine to a later car
How do you wire u a 1993 wire system to a pre 1984 wiring loom which had a starter motor?
Many thanks!!

Confused

The wiring is the loom, is it a 93 car, and original wiring, with an earlier engine with an inertia starter?

Also, what distributor & coil are you using?

yes
electronic ignition, standard coil to suit

If I’ve followed what you’re doing you won’t need to change any of the wiring to the ignition since the distributor and coil are the ones that came with the car and have been fitted to the new engine.

You will need a separate solenoid, the wing mounted type, which you can mount (and earth) on the clutch housing near the starter. Put all the connections that were on the screw terminal of the old starter on to one of the screw terminals of the new solenoid & swap over the spade terminal for the operating feed (white/red or brown/red) to the corresponding spade connection - there may be two spades, but trial & error won’t take long to find the right one. Finally, connect the starter to the other solenoid screw post http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BATTERY-CABLE-EARTH-…=item3f0370c6c1
