hi all!
i have recently built my engine to this spec,
1275 metro a+ striped and rebuilt, new rings, mains, sheels etc
286 cam
vernier duplex
downton engineering stage 3 head
weber 40doce
aldon yellow dizzy
the problem!
runs perfectly when cold for about 5mins and then when it gets hot it just cuts out. no splutering or anything just dies as if you turned it off with the key. i have had it on a obd machine to check the gases and these are all at a good level, not running lean or rich and burning nicely.
at first i thought it was an electrical problem so i began replacing rotor arm then cap then coil then the whole dizzy! still no joy exactly the same problem! ive gone through the whole electrical system fuel pump etc. the only thing that is left is the weber and its fueling!
can you recomend which chokes, jets, emulsion tubes and air correctors i should be running as i have no clue now and just keep scratching my head and changing jets etc willy nilly!
currently running 32 chokes, 145jets, f147 emulsion tubes buyt as i said im not clued up on webers ( should of bought twin su’s,i understand them!!! )
thanks

well i have a similar set up but haven’t got the numbers written down mate
but it look slike they are jetted wrongly - but mine still ran despite the wrong jets first time round - so im not sure it is the jetting causing it to due off..
when it does it is the fuel pump still running - assume you have a leccy one.
Does it start again, if so after what period of time?
I wouldn’t suspect the jets as it’s likely to keep running if incorrectly fueled just not well, it’s more likely to be either the coil breaking down, or the fuel not getting through the carb.
Alan…

Alan…
i have heard of fuel freeze but its very hard to detect. apparently its to do with air flow through the carb, thats why i was trying to get roughly the right jets etc… as this is a posibility.
the fuel pump keeps running and doesnt seem to miss a beat. ive already tried the coil and replaced it!
cheers for your help anyway

forgot to add that i have striped the carb and gave it a clean to to see if this corected the problem, but still no joy!
