hey guys im not far from getting my engine running (i dont think) and im stuck on where to put the heater hoses and where to connect. basically ive connected the top hose and the bottom hose on my metro 1275 engine. the bottom hose comes off to connect the the heater hose? i bought some from a spares and repairs place and was given 3 hoses, two long ones, one with a valve on and one without and then another small hose about 7 inch long. my dad said the long one connects to the small pipe sticking out the top of the head so thats what i have done and connectd the other one to the bottom rad hose and then that fits onto the heater matrix?
was just womndering where the valve hose runs, which way it goes and what the small hose is for?
if anyone needs pictures of the engine bay or hoses please let me know or a diagram woud be really helpfull!
cheers Joe
What year is the mini? Some have a valve on the head feont corner flywheel side which has a long pipe running inside to the heater then the other long pipe to the bottom hose,my 1991 cooper had a black inline valve that was connected to bottom hose then a pipe running through bulkhead to heater matrix then a pipe to the head front corner flywheel side and I would assume that the small pipes would be if you areusing a water fed manifold hope this helps

sorry about the bad picture this is the heater valve, can take pics of pipe and valve thing if you need and the year its 86
thats when i first got it by the way few more things in there and bits been painted
Ok looks like a water fed manifold to me the heater take off pipe is at the front on the left hand side of picture a small pipe from there to maifold on same side then other side of manifold a pipe from there to the heater matrix then the other pipe off the heater matrix to a valve connected to the bottom hose I think thats the way it is surposed to run but mine I didnt bother piping the manifold up hope this helps before taking what I say wait for a few more members to reply just to be sure pal
I would post a pic of valve you have been given also that might help
Thats the same one I had fitted to my cooper it connects to the bottom hose and a pipe from there goes to ueater matrix then from heater matrix to the heater take off pipe on feont of head its up to u wether you connect the manifold into the waterpipes but I personnally didnt bother on my cooper
