Has Anyone Seen This Mayfair

Morning all!

Is anyone on here the owner of or have pictures of the Mayfair below? It’s pretty much perfect and I just wanted to see more of it!

Ohhhh I didn’t know it was that one!

Its mine!  Had loads of mini’s over the years but now I’m a bit older, wanted to build my ultimate mini.  Glad you like it, let me know if you want to know anything else about it.

Cheers Jamie.  Hope you’re well mate.

I vowed to keep my identicle car standard but it’s so tempting to copy yours exactly, it looks ace!

Are you on a carb or spi? My January 1995 is the newest carb mini I know of so far!

Mine was completely standard when I got it but I couldn’t resist.  Saying that, apart from the roof (and the tuned engine), it could go back to standard very easily.  The interior is completely original 95spec Mayfair (even with the standard radio cassette) and it even has the standard wheel arches.

Its an SPI, just had it completely rebuilt.  Its now a 1293cc with a Kent 274 cam, K+N air filter and a very large valve head with the original ECU.  After 3 years of 53bhp, I now think its like a rocket ship!

The roof looks great.

I’m contemplating a drop to 10s at the moment and yours really stood out for being well executed!

Tbh, other than condition, your car is pretty much identical to mine! I’ve kept it a standard ltd edition on the outside so I was worried about 10s.

I’d say go for it!  The 7.5" brake conversion kit is really good value from Minispares with the tmf+ discount and the brakes are just as good as before and if you want to put 12" wheels back on, its just a case of swapping them over.  I’ve got some 60’s cooper steel’s that I sometimes put on in winter to change the look.

Thanks mate.  Had it done 2 years ago from a place in Leicester.  Haggled them down to £1100 fitted!  Its electric too.

I’m going to say something now which makes my indecision seem crazy… I already have the brake kit lol! I had it on my cooper which is currently resting in a thousand pieces at my parents. So my only outlay I think would be wings!

What are you waiting for?  Wings?  Did you mean wheels?

Nah I already have wheels, a nice set of slotmags! My wings have been trimmed in the past and I don’t think they will take the original arches back on at the moment
It’ll be my winter project me thinks!

Gotcha.  Good luck with it and thanks for the compliments with the Mayfair.

Very nice. Did you need to trim your arches to fit the 6x10s?

Thank you.  No modification to the arches at all, completely standard.  I have hi-lo’s and it sits a bit lower than normal but the wheels have never rubbed (maybe I’m not trying hard enough!!).

Well that’s created problems then. I am going from 12s to 10s and originally wanted 6 inch width like on my old mini but don’t want to trim the front arches so had reluctantly decided to go for 10x5s.

Tempted now to go for 10x6 but just know that I’ll then need to do some surgery!
