…as started, went for a drive to Blackpool, car ran fine all the way, I got to Blackpool and when I was driving slowly, (<5mph), there was a knocking noise when I accelerated and took my foot off the accelerator… it sounded like it was coming from the front left of the car, but high up… not down at floor level… I have no idea what it could be around that area.
I had checked oil, brake fluid, water in radiator before leaving, all were ok…

A repetitive knocking or a single knock on acceleration/deceleration?
It could be an engine steady?
Sounds typical of a loose (worn bushes) or broken engine steady. The upper one is on the RH (driver’s side) of the car, though. Worth checking engine steady(s) and mounts. Try rocking the engine by hand to see if you can produce any movement.
The engine steadys all look fine… its going in to have some body work done on Thursday, so might ask them if they can give is a visual whilst its in and see if they notice anything.
The engine is solid when I rock it by hand also…
The bushes all look ok too… i’ll see if the body shop can have a quick look and see if they notice anything - going into dentyandscratchy so at least they have some experience with minis so might know where to look…
ill be watching this, my car does the same, when i accelerate hard and then take my foot of the throttle i get a knock,
my engine doesnt move (hardly) by hand and all the busy look to be ok,
there is a lot more force behind the engine than my arm, so maybe the bushes are worn and the engine whip is strong enough to show this.
