iv just got my seal kit for my gear change and there is a ally ring with an o ring around it a rubber seal and the flexxy tubber one . iv looked in the haynes manual and it shows how to do the rubber seal so does the ally one go in first then the rubber seal then flexy one last, if this is right then how do you get the ally one out as it must be in quite a way
You won’t get the ally bit out, just fit a new oil seal and gaiter.
Hi,
The ally ring complete with “o” ring sits behind the oil seal and I think replaces a plasticy bush that wears and allows the rod to move about slightly so stopping the oil seal from doing it’s job.
Use a small sharp screwdriver to prise the old oil seal out and the same for the bush. Lightly grease the “o” ring on the ally ring and push it home before fitting an new oil seal and rubber gaiter.
