Sam from Chard, Somerset checking in here, learning to drive at the moment, have my test in December so fingers crossed there! I have always been a massive fan of Mini’s, my nan had a red Mayfair when I was a little boy called Monty, and I adored it! Since then it has been a passion of mine and its safe to say I wont settle for anything else as my first car!
Now, I am not certain if this is the right place to ask this, but I am looking at a 1972 Austin 1000 mini at the moment, its based in Bridgwater so local to me, and is on ebay, the link is here.
(Mods I read through the rules, if ebay linking is disallowed please remove!)
It is tax exempt and has been looked after and restored lovingly, not only that I have been quoted very reasonably for 3rd Party F&T, £1700 a year. Is this car a good buy, and if not what would you lads recommend?

Thanks in advance
Welcome Buddy! Got my test in december as well!
Check out footman james insurance. You will have to ring them, but i was getting a quote of no less than £1500 everywhere else for a 1992 Rover Mini City 998. Then i phoned footman james. TPF&T £600 for the whole year, thats european insurance included as well as breakdown cover.
Looks a nice car from the photos. E-bay starting price is very reasonable if all the work listed has been done competently. I personally don’t like the wheels, but that’s just me. Says he has it advertised elsewhere: At what price, I wonder? As it’s local to you, why not look it over and make him an offer? Bidding on e-bay is probably not the best way to buy your first car.
