tured round on a grass verge the other day and silly me ripps of the number plate yes my fault got a new on on this afternoon several hours later smashed up again going down a straight national speed limit road about 50 no street light or nothink then next minute there is a giant dead badger in the middle of the road wasnt a very nive ride over it. and further up the road the guy who hit it checking under his car for damag then about another 5 people did the same until someone moved it. so im going to get one on the bonnet now and the there should be no moe broken number plates
also anyone no where i can ge road legal sticker number plates from bin looking round the internet can’t find anywhere
I was lucky with one of my number plates (in the peugeot though). It had a crack in the plate when i bought the car, so i gota new one. I was too lazy to put it on straight away which was lucky, because the very next day i hit a pheasant at 50mph which smashed the number plate to pieces! I would have been more than annoyed if i’d just fitted the new one and smashed it up within 24 hours lol.
Bonnet number plates look cool, im afraid i don’t know where you can get a legal one though.
Theres no such thing as legal bonnet number plates; due to the lack of the correct reflective and vertical mounting required to make a plate completly legal.
However, in my opinion if you make sure spacing and font is correct and legal, the ‘reflectiveness’ isn’t a big issue and providing you fit the plate centrally and on the most vertical surface of thr bonnet (i.e. right at the bottom) i don’t think you’ll have any problems at all. Unless you come across a ridiculously picky traffic police car in a very very bad mood. I say go for it, other will think differently
knowing my luck lately i will get pulled time to speak to sister nicely and see if she can get another free one
thanks guys for your help

Christ mark, you english is a nightmare.
Why not mount you numberplate in the correct place as per the law, but instead of bolting them on use velcro strips. That way if you hit another dead badger, your plate will just ping off and not be smashed and you can retrieve it.

Hey - I wouldn’t recommend using velcro to affix a number plate! Unless you want some dodgy person using your plate while bilking the local petrol stations!
Just a thought!
Mounting a 2mm steel plate behind the numberplate can strenthen it and usually avoids the plate cracking, the steel just bends slightly.
well just found some on ebay that say they meet all the legal requirements so orderd one and see what happens hopefully they are telling the truth.
what VW people do on low campers and beetles is fit the number plates on a hinge
so the hang straight down in normal use and flick up if you hit anything

Now ‘that’ ^ sounds like a good idea!

If you’re going at any sort of speed, doesn’t the number plate just hinge backwards?
Wonder what it would do to a speed camera photo…!
