Driver Side Door Will Not Lock

Hopefully this is the right section.

I have a Mini Neon 1991 which drivers side door will not lock. Key turns as expected but doesnt feel like it is doing anything (in comparison to working passenger side)… any ideas what might be causing this - fairly new to tinkering with cars… Am going to be removing the door card and hopefully be something simple but any advice/guidance is greatly appreaiced .

check the little clip is connected dont knows its proper name but 9 times out of 10 its that had it on both of mine. yup you will have to take door card off

Thanks for your advise, shall take the door card off later on today (might do both sides to compare) and let you know how I get on.
